The four zone horizontal ComfortPLENUM™ with bypass damper is 21 in x 21 in x 5 ft long. Installers simply cut a circular hole in the sheet metal using the cutting guide decal to choose the size of their hole from 6 to 16 in round or rectangular. The cutting guide is located on the sheet metal directly in front of the damper. The damper is mounted on the inside of the plenum directly behind the cutting guide. Once the hole is cut and the insulation is trimmed away, the damper blades will be showing. Duct-tab or spin-in starting collars may be installed into the holes. The four zone plenum has five dampers; two are placed on each side (as shown). However, the plenum may be rotated 90 deg so that two zone dampers are on the top and two are on the bottom position to avoid framing, maintain better air flow or other reason that is beneficial to the application. Also, in applications where equipment is above removable ceiling tile, the plenum can be rotated 180 deg so that the motors are accessible from the bottom. The fifth damper is on the endcap and is usually used as the bypass damper, but it does not have to be. In this application the endcap bypass damper modulates to maintain the correct pressure in the plenum.
