For many years the standard of the industry, the 15% silver alloy has proven its value. This filler metal is excellent for situations in which close fit-up does not exist and where thermal expansion and service vibration are involved.

Harris® Brazing Alloy, 1/8 in Diameter, 20 in Length, 1300 to 1500 deg F, Composition: 80% Copper, 5% Phosphorus, 15% Silver

  • Popular choice for copper brazing of air conditioning and refrigeration connections
  • Flows into tight connections when heated above its liquidus temperature
  • Excellent for situations where close fit-up does not exist and where thermal expansion and service vibration are involved
  • Wide melting range allows the operator to fill loose connections
  • Recommended joint clearance of 0.003" - 0.006" (0.08mm - 0.15mm)
  • Use STAY-SILV® white flux to braze brass or copper-to-brass
  • Corrosion resistance is generally similar to the copper base metal, but phosphorus containing alloys, including STAY-SILV® 15, should not be used if the braze is exposed to sulfur or sulfur compounds in service
  • Not recommended for brazing steel or other ferrous metals due to sufficient lack of joint ductility
  • Suitable for brazing low nickel (10% maximum) copper/nickel base metals
